We seek solace in the beauty of the natural world. Yet our histories are contained in the land - ancient and damaged. With this series of found magic lantern slides, I draw attention to the fragility of the photograph's materiality and the landscapes depicted. Chemical deterioration of the image, marks, blisters, and scratches impact the photographic vista. By solarising the images, light and shadow are inverted, creating a disturbing, eerie atmosphere akin to a psychic landscape. This operation is a poetic allusion to how we manipulate and change the environment.
