Woodland Witches at Samhain (Hallowe’en), London, 2025
"Waken all Ye unto Life and come Ye as the Charm is made!"
Woodland Witches was founded by Wiccan High Priest Mani Navasothy in 2014 to empower individuals through nature and ritual magic. Seasonal rituals are held in woods and parks, incorporating Pagan traditions and mythologies for magical inspirations. Open to Pagans of all paths, seekers of Wicca and witchcraft, ritual magicians, and people of nature spirituality. The group is inclusive of race, Pagan beliefs, gender, and sexuality.
The rituals honour the divine, which is both male and female and takes many forms, including Gods and Goddesses. A connection with the divine is made in various ways. A sacred altar with consecrated statues and magical tools is a central focus of the ceremonies. Energy is raised through incantations, dance, music, creative pathworking, mediation and visualisation. Symbols, ritual clothing and invocations are also integral.
At Samhain, when the veil is thin between the living and the dead, Woodland Witches call, honour and remember their beloved dead. The Dark Lord of the Wild Hunt is summoned to open the gates to the next realm. At Samhain, the Greek Goddess of magic is honoured. Hekate is the key-bearer, who can unlock secrets, crossroads, and the Underworld. She is called upon to aid in communication with spirits, facilitate deep introspection, and manage the transition into the darker, colder months.
